Component #1: Canvas
|
Canvas is the online learning management system we use to give students information, lecture material, lessons, assessments, and resources. Typically, students will turn in all work in Canvas.
|
Component #2: Remind
|
Remind.com is a school-friendly text messaging service. You will be given a Remind code early in the year. Here's a brief overview. When you sign up for Remind, you'll receive text messages and announcements that will help you keep in touch.
For example, let's say something came up abruptly that I forgot to tell you about in class. I might send a text through Remind saying, "Hey, don't forget that the Google Meet for this week has been rescheduled!" and so on. Signing up for Remind is something you have to do. Definitely mandatory. Note: When you sign up, please sign up using your real name, first and last. Please don't sign up just with your first name. (I may have more than one "Makenzie S." in my classes.) |
Component #3: Infinite Campus
|
Keeping a close eye on your grades is crucial. You and your parent/guardian will have to be signed up in Infinite Campus. This is where you see your grades, your attendance, and get important notifications from the school administration or the district. Signing up for Infinite Campus is also mandatory. I strongly suggest getting the app for your phone so you can see your grade the moment a teacher changes it.

Component #4
Google Meets |
I'm discussing both of these as a group because their functions are very similar, though not identical. As part of our class, we will be using both of these at certain points in order to facilitate discussion and the exchange of ideas from student to student.
